Thanks for stopping by. My name is Bill Carter, and this is my blog where I share insights into data networking, unified communications, data centers including industry news, technical knowledge, and network operations in enterprise-class networks.

The goal of this site is to provide valuable insight and resources for network, unified communications, wireless and data center engineers. Hopefully this information will be of benefit to engineers and technology managers wishing to learn more about enterprise-class IT infrastructure.

Professional Information

I am currently a Senior Solutions Analyst for a privately held technology service provider. Our company provides consulting services and has partnerships with multiple hardware and software vendors. The analysis and opinions provide are solely my own and do not necessarily represent the views of my employer or vendors we are associated with.

I have worked in the networking industry since 1995. I have extensive experience in routing & switching, unified communications (VoIP), security, IDS/IPS, wireless, and small to mid-size data center architecture and engineering.



I hold the following certifications:

  • CCIE # 5022 Routing & Switching, continuously active for 17 years


Personal Information

I am married to my wonderful with Jennifer. I am the father of 4 daughters and 1 son, together we all live in central Illinois. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family.
